In this assignment we were using photoshop to combine images to create puns. I learned about blending images and being creative. I enjoyed this assignment because it allowed for a lot of creativity.

On my first days of this class, I didn't understand how to properly use a camera or photoshop. I didn't know much more than how to press the shutter button and get an image. I did not understand what aperture or shutter speed was. I had no previous knowledge on how to take good pictures using different elements of composition. As we started to do assignments such as the composition assignment I started to realize that there was much more to photography than just clicking a button. You actually had to use lighting, perspective, patterns and many other things to get a professional photo. Now, because of all of the assignments like the car photoshop assignment and the weekly pictures, I feel confident in my photography skills. Instead of just clicking a button, I now look for the shutter speed and aperture and lighting before shooting. (Above) In these early pictures of mine, I did not properly know how to use many features of the camera and use techniques such as panning well. (Above) In these three more recent photos I found myself using more advanced techniques such as perspective, lighting, and advanced photoshop skills that I learned throughout the course of this class. These skills resulted in quality images such as the last two, or a professional looking photoshop-edited picture. (Above) I think that the top photo is the worst photo I've taken during this class because it displays how I am using beginner panning techniques and lighting as well as a poor background. In the bottom photo, you can see me using advanced lighting and perspective. This was one of my latest photos and this comparison shows how I greatly improved over time because of all the assignments and lessons in this class. I would like to take digital photography 2 in the future, as I would like to continue growing my skills and putting them to use.
In this assignment we were taking our final photo. I chose to take it of an event. The event was halloween. This picture had an aperture of F2.8, a shutter speed of 0.8, and an ISO of 100. I edited this photo by changing the colors around using the hue and sat. and the brightness/contrast adjustment tools. I also cropped it to get rid of any extra things I didn't need. I learned how to change colors around in photoshop and also how to use perspective and lighting in my images in this assignment.
In this assignment we followed a tutorial and edited and image. Tutorial link: https://digital-photography-school.com/mono-with-a-dash-of-colour-photoshop-cs2-tutorial/ https://www.photoshopessentials.com/photo-effects/texture-map/ https://www.photoshopessentials.com/photo-effects/screen-jump/ This assignment varied in difficulty. The texture assignment (#2) was difficult as I had to perfectly line things up and outline in photoshop. Every detail in that assignment mattered, as one slip up may cause the image to look bad. Others such as the jump screen (#3) was more in the middle. I learned a lot in this assignment such as using different tools.
In this assignment I took macro photos of leaves on trees around my house. In this photo, I did not do any editing. My aperture is f5.0, 1/100 shutter speed, and an ISO of 1600. I didn't do any editing. I learned how to get close up to a photo and use positioning in this assignment.
In this assignment we were taking multiple photos of ourself and putting them together in photoshop. This is my first one. I tried to have one image in front of the other in one area. This was difficult because it took a lot of time to clean up after in photoshop. This is my second photo.
In this assignment, I learned how to clean up images in photoshop, use the lasso tool, and create images with myself in it more than once. For school context, I took a picture of the high school gym and changed it to make it look like it was underwater with lots of life such as submarines and fish. This is the original photo that I took. This is the edited version. I learned a lot about editing in photoshop in this assignment. I learned about clouds, adding images, and blurring.
In this assignment we were taking our 5th photo. I chose to do still life. I did this by using light to create a good background a put the focus on my subject. I used my swim goggles and a dark room and a flashlight for this. I didn't do any editing for this photo. It has an aperture of f2.8, 1/30 shutter speed, and an ISO of 200. I learned how to use lighting and angles in this photo. Without the proper use of lighting, these photos would not have been possible.
In this assignment we were taking our 4th photo. I chose to take photos of nature landscape. I did this by using colors in my photos. For example, I tried to capture the pink of the evening sky while showing the red and green trees. In this photo, I tried to capture the colors of the landscape, including the red and green trees and the pink sky. I edited this photo to make it brighter and to really try and bring out some more color. F6.3, 1/50 shutter speed, and an ISO of 1600. I learned about colors in this assignment. I tried to make some colors pop and others blend in .
In this assignment we were taking multiple pictures (3+) to put them together and create a panorama in photoshop. In order for this to work, we needed a steady hand and good light balance. I learned a lot in this assignment, such as balancing light, but especially how to make a pano.

AuthorI am a freshman at Saline. I chose this class because I wanted to try something new that I hadn't done before. I don't have any previous photography skills or knowledge, so I thought that this class would be something that could help me learn more about digital photography. Archives
